Hi all, i need to run explorer from my sever (sunfire 4800) and save the out-put on my laptop. Please i need the step by step on how to go about it.

Follow following steps:
1. cd /opt/SUNWexplo/bin
2. explorer
3. cd ../output
4. ls -lrt
5. check for a file with extension .tar.gz
6. run ftp from your laptop and get this file.
Hi follow this:
- Download package at  https:email@removed_SMI,

Using ftp, transfer the file in a tmp directory on the remote host (exp: /tmp)
- unzip and chmod a+x; ./install_stb to start installation
- /opt/SUNWexplo/bin/explorer -g for configuration
- /opt/SUNWexplo/bin/explorer to run explorer
- At running end, the output file is in /opt/SUNWexplo/output
You need get the Explorer's pkg. or tool.
1) Services Tools Bundle 5.X( explorer 6.X Service Tags 1.X Sneep 2.X Lwact 3.X SolarisCAT 5.X)
2) Sun Explorer Data Collector 6.X ( explorer 6.X only )

If you've already had an account, you can DL from Sun(Oracle?) download center(

I always "Sun Explorer Data Collector 6.X", because it's easy to install.

# gzcat Explorer_6.3.tar.gz | tar xf -
# pkgadd -d . SUNWexplo SUNWexplu
# ${Install_dir}/bin/explorer -g
-> setting for explorer

<run explorer basically>
# ${Install_dir}/bin/explorer
-> output: ${Install_dir}/output/explorer.${hostid}.${hostname} -${current_date_time}.tar.gz

<Sun[TM] Explorer Data Collector document> tkey=1-9-82329-1
<Sun[TM] Explorer Commands> y=1-9-82368-1

Excuse me for my poor English and handwriting.

if explorer is installed do : # explorer -i
if not, do :
# cd /opt/SUNWexplo/bin
# ./explorer
The output will be saved in /opt/SUNWexplo/outputs
and you can retrieve it by ftp.
Do you know sras ?
You need to download sun explorer data collector software (SUNWexplo package) and install it on your domain running solaris on your 4800 box. (ignore this if already installed)
Go through the below sunsolve document for detail on how to download and install explore y=1-9-82329-1
Once installed explorer on your domain, go to /opt/SUNWexplo/bin directory to run the explorer command. If you are collecting the explorer for the first time, it will gether some user information. Once done you need to run below command to collect the explorer. (note that there are many sub options available which might be asked specifically by Sun Support if requied for troubleshooting.)
# /opt/SUNWexplo/bin/explorer -w default
For more information use Sun explorer user's guide :
Forgot to mention  :
once executed the command, it will generate filename something like under /opt/SUNWexplo/bin :
explorer.80a711xy.abcdf-2002.  This is the requied output file.
