RSC password on v890....

Hi,

I have a brand new server sun fire v890, i connected a
terminal to the console port and it asks me for login
name and password..Is there any standard password for
this? I tried login as admin and password as admin,
but no luck..Please advice
Hi,

There are no default passwords for any accounts I know. When you install the
new Solaris OS at the end of installation it will ask you to set password
for root account. There is a way to log in to the system if you forgot root
password. See below.

boot cdrom -s at the ok prompt
when you get to the hash prompt type.

fsck -F ufs -y /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 - assuming that is your root partition

now type in mount /dev/dsk/c0t0d0s0 /a

cd /a and you will have all your root folders there
vi /a/etc/shadow
root:xx:xxxxxxxxxx:12345::::::
root::12345:::::::::

remove everything in between the :
so it looks like the example above.

now save the file and reboot your system

If you have only just built this, the top level administrative user would be
'root'. The password would be blank or root also, unless the company you
are leasing or have purchased the system from made other configurations.
Call them if you are not havng any further luckThis may not work on a remote
conslole.

hi
Many thanks for advice, but my problem with RSC login
not system login. I conected the my new V890 through
RSC remotly and when I power on the system he asked
for RSC LOGINname and PASSword....I tried admin for
both and also leave the blank for all but result is
NULL............Please help
 Ok,

I think RSC will initially prompt you for login and password and there is no
default RSC user account or password until you create one in Solaris.
If not installed then you have load RSC 2.2.2 packages, or later, from
Supplement CD. Then run rsc-config or rscadm to configure or administer
users.
Use the serial port for console instead of the RSC port for initial
connection.
