Evidence of a Clean Shutdown Desired (CentOS / Fedora Linux).

www.unixbabuforum.inI need to have proof that a system is being shut down cleanly by my UPS software when a power outage occurs and the battery is about to be depleted. That should happen, but I want to make sure.
Is there any flag file, or some way I can produce one that helps me verify it is being done?

This also would be useful to check that a user is doing the right thing instead of just killing the machine via the power off button or the power strip.

So far checking the system log is not conclusive enough...

www.unixbabuforum.inNormally some UPS sends some signal to related device driver

and device driver generates "SIGNAL 30"(SIGPWR)

Normal users can not catch "SIGPWR" and init/upstart can capture

this signal and generates proper action

Check installed init/upstart of your using distru

www.unixbabuforum.in create a script that log's the shutdown in the /etc/rc0.d dir which get's started last on shutdown.
