System backups for P-Series servers AIX v5.3

WWW.unixbabuforum.inI've been tasked to find a system backup software for our IBM P-Series server, running AIX 5.3. We have Oracle 10G databases installed on this server.
Right now, we are using scripts with the tar command created years ago. We want to find a backup/restore solution that is more current and reliable.
I know about IBM's Tivoli/Sysback and I'm getting a quote for it. I mentioned that I wanted to implement a tape/disk backup system.
www.unixbabuforum.inAmanda, Symantec / Veritas NetBackup, EMC / Legato Networker, IBM's Tivoli
Storage Manager are all good products, each with varying levels of cost and
flexibility, pro's and cons. Starting with a lower initial cost is Amanda,
a decent choice when moving from a home grown solution. The other three are
the enterprise class leaders in the backup arena, and are popular, easy to
find consultants to help you design and implement those solutions.

www.unixbabuforum.inA good solution is setting TSM client and server and buying a tape library (can be small depending on your needs)
this way you will have all your backups on tape and stablish a backup policy daily, incremental... etc
and set a retention policy for your tapes ... is one expense that will be useful for a lot of serverswww.unixbabuforum.in
