Oracle 11g R2 memory issue in solaris 10 x86

www.unixbabuforum.inWe are using Oracle 11g R2 SE1 in our Intel hardware with 16gb
RAM
and 8gb swap space. Oradism process itself consuming 9831M out of 16G Ram.
And also some other standalone java programs. We are facing an out of memory

issue while running some other processes.

SQL> show parameter sga

NAME TYPE VALUE

www.unixbabuforum.inReturn back to DB design stage and recalculate the correct size for SGA

www.unixbabuforum.inFrom a Solaris point of view, 16GB of RAM means that by default your project.max-shm-memory is set to 1/4 of the RAM. It needs to be increased by updating the /etc/project file with projmod. Check your settings with "prctl -P $$". Change it, logout and login and its updated.

www.unixbabuforum.inMy opinion is you should ask this Database architect, because size of SGA depend of the tables, type of data, type of transactions, stored procedures, indexes and many other things
But for the moment try to set SGA to be 5GB
