distinguishing external versus internal disk

www.unixbabuforum.inI am to write a script to distinguish external and internal disk my OS is SOLARIS any ideas.

www.unixbabuforum.int's good to have basic understanding of how Solaris manages disks before you get your hands dirty. The official documentation from SUN website is a good place to start. Please check out this link:

www.unixbabuforum.inIf you mean external disk by LUN the best option to distinguish it from local disk is to go and check /dev/dsk and check the target, you will be always having a hexadecimal number which is too big. Any disk which has bigger then a single digit target number it means it coming from shortage which is external

For example –

c0t0d0s0 ( local disk ) c3t600A0B80006E06BE0000CEFA4C2F22C2d0s3 ( external disk)
