ZFS with LDOM

www.unixbabuforum.inWhat is the best means of using zfs with LDOMS.
1. Using the ZFS volumes. What are the advantages & disadvantages.
2. Using the ZFS image file. What are the advantages & disadvantages.

www.unixbabuforum.inYou don't describe your storage environment, but in general, I'd want
to ensure that each solaris instance has enough independently pathed
disks to allow the full power of ZFS.

That is, zfs works best when it has total control of the disks. No veritas,
no svm, nothing. And since each instance would want it's own zfs, that
means lots of disks and controllers.

Of course, one instance could provide file services to the entire stack of
instances. I do this with my servers (but I use zones).

Truly though, zfs does provide a fair good bit of service and performance
on just a single spindle. I have some solaris system running under xen (x86)
and their disk is managed by a SAN controller. Each instance just gets
a LUN. I still make extensive use of snapshots, rapid fs creation, etc.
