Do you recommend using Solaris 10 or 11?

www.unixbabuforum.inDo you recommend using Solaris 10 or 11? We've purchased a T4-1 with Solaris 11 installed. This will be our main database server. I've had someone recommend that I use Solaris 10 as its more proven, that's what most companies are running, and it is less likely to need further patching

www.unixbabuforum.inBranded Solaris 10 zones in Solaris 11 are an option, but, from my experience with Solaris 11, use 10 only if, for example, the application installed is certified only to Solaris 10. The ZFS root file system, which can serve Solaris 10, but is the default for Solaris 11, is a powerful feature and the IPS is a wonderful enhancement - this similar to the Linux yum repository.

www.unixbabuforum.inWe have been running Solaris 11 since it first came out. I feel that
Solaris 11 has proven itself. All of Oracle Corp runs on Solaris 11. If you
really, really want Solaris 10, then create a Solaris 10 LDOM and run you
applications in that LDOM, or even Solaris 10 zones in that Solaris 10
LDOM, but keep the primary domain in Solaris 11. I like Solaris 11 - better
to stay with change, not behind it.
